I’ll get myself platinum rings and expensive shoes
A long drive with myself to beat the blues
I’ll keep my old friends safe and warm
I might get up early sometimes to watch the breaking dawn
I’ll learn my lessons before bed and wipe the slate clean
A little bit of pain is essential to savour joy completely
And this is my own ‘ONE’ life
So just let me be ME…

Don’t need the chains you provide
I’ll buy the diamond necklaces myself
I don’t follow the rules you dictated
My own book will one day adorn your bookshelf
I don’t want to sound arrogant
You have been indifferent greatly
But this is my own ‘ONE’ life
So just let me be ME…

You can ostracize me for not adhering to the script
I’ll make my own house in the countryside
You may scorn me for being an independent girl
I’ll take it as a compliment and beam with pride
You may say this girl has fallen along the way
And I will give a hoot, you will see
‘Cos this is my own ‘ONE’ life
So just let me be ME…

I’d rather make my own mistakes
Than live in someone’s shadow
I’ll mess it all up before I can clear it up
But that would not make me hollow
I want to live this journey the way I wish
So please step aside for me
As this is my own ‘ONE’ life
So just let me be ME…
